Columbus Suburban College Fair

What are you doing next Sunday?  I hope your plan includes attending the Columbus Suburban College Fair!  Held at Otterbein University.

The Columbus Suburban College Fair is the largest, local fall college fair and is a great opportunity for students to learn more about colleges of interest.  This year, the College Fair will take place on Sunday, October 9th at the Otterbein University Clements Center from 1-3:30.

Who should attend the college fair?  It is ideal for students who are just starting the process to begin thinking about where they might want to apply to college in the future. College fairs can provide the perfect opportunity to interact with a large number of college admissions officers all in one setting.  Granted, this will just be a quick snapshot, and at times can be overwhelming, but it is a great chance for 9th - 11th graders to begin the process of thinking about what you are seeking in a college and identifying schools which might be a good fit for what you're hoping to find.  And attending a college fairs also provides a great way to expand your horizons well beyond the awareness of the most common colleges you have heard your siblings or friends talk about.

All students are asked to register with Strive Scan by visiting www.strivefair.com because this will allow for you to have a bar code specific to you.  Then, when you are at the college fair next weekend and you talk to a college that interests you, they can simply scan your barcode and that will allow the college to know of your interest. I promise you, this is a MAJOR improvement over 5-10 years ago when students had to hand write out interest cards at each college table.

I encourage you to check out the Columbus Suburban College Fair information on the front page of the WKHS Counselor website for more information about colleges who will attend and parking.  And next week, after the fair, I will be anxious to hear about what colleges sparked your interest the most!
