Have you watched any of the coverage about 9/11 today? It is strange for me to think about the fact that many of you were not alive on September 11, 2001 as it is a date that is seared into my memory. Last fall I had the chance to go to New York City and visit the 9/11 memorial which was a powerful and moving experience. I pray that your lifetime will be free of tragic "where were you when" moments, but even if it isn't a massive crisis that impacts the whole world like was experienced on 9/11, the reality is that we will all have our own personal life-changing experiences. Moments and days when life before and life after will always feel forever changed and you will remember vividly. As I have watched some of the videos and news clips from 15 years ago I can remember the fear, but I also remember the unity. And so I hope that you will always feel the unity and support of people around you should you experience a crisis situation.
On Thursday night we were able to host a special presentation for parents called Harboring Hope. International and OSU Suicide prevention experts, Dr. Darcy Haag Granello and Dr. Paul Granello, shared their knowledge with the parents who attended the program. I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the parents/ guardians/ extended family members who attended the presentation! Our students are lucky to have your support and hope.
